Joani E.is a PhD candidate in English Literature at Harvard University. A Beinecke and a Marshall Scholar, she holds Masters degrees in History and English Literature from the University of Oxford, as well as an undergraduate degree in English from Princeton University. In her own research, Joani focuses on women’s and children’s writing from 1740-1920, exploring how girls’ popular publications reimagined their education and identities. In addition to studying how these works fostered greater education equity, Joani has taught and developed a curriculum for Poetry in America: an online, college-level course for underserved students facilitated by Harvard, ASU, and the National Education Equity Lab.
